South Elementary was built in 1954 with an addition in 1992. South Elementary contains preschool through third grade students. |

Our Vision A place where parents, staff and community work as one for the betterment of all children. Our Mission The mission of South Elementary School is to enable students to become productive, responsible, caring individuals by creating a positive educational environment that provides challenging, innovative, successful learning experiences. We're a Reading First School! South Elementary became a Reading First School in February 2004. Reading First, part of the No Child Left Behind Act, focuses on grades K-3 with the goal of having every child reading at or above grade level by the end of third grade. South Elementary received the grant which filled the school with reading supplies and extensive literacy libraries. The grant also afforded teachers long-term staff development, graduate level courses, two interventionists, and a trained reading coach. |
